Beasley Sets New Record of 59 points To Help The North Win Over The South In the CBA All-star Game, and Selected as MVP

  Michael Beasley of the Shanghai Sharks scored a record of 59 points and won the MVP to help the South Team beat the North Team 142-123 in the CBA All-star game Sunday night at the Beijing National Arena.

  Fans selected Han Dejun, He Tianjun, Guo Ailun (Liaoning), Stephon Marbury (Beijing) and Andray Blatche (Xinjiang) to start the game for the North, and Yi Jianlian, Zhu Fangyu (Guangdong), Gu Quan (Dongguan), Zeng Lingxu (Foshan) and Zhao Tailong (Fujian) for the South.

  With Lester Hudson and Li Xiaoxu nodded by their coach Guo Shiqiang as reserves, the CBA-leading Liaoning had five players participated in the all-star game, the most from one club in the CBA history.

  But the night belonged to Michael. The American power forward broke the previous record 44 points by Quincy Douby set in the 2011 game, and also pulled back 11 rebounds. CBA leading scorer Errck McCollum from Zhejiang Golden Bulls had 22 points and 6 rebounds, and Yi Jianlian who had the most votes had 18 points for the South. Blatche had 25 points and 7 rebounds, Li Gen from Beijing had 15 points and Hudson scored 14 points behind 4 for 4 from a long ranch in the losing effort for the North.

  The South led 96-90 after three quarters and outscored 46-33 in the fourth to seal the win.

  Han Shuo from Beijing used 29.9 seconds to win the Skills Challenge, Michelle Madanly from Jilin won the Three-Point Shootout in the overtime and Luo Kaiwen from Bayi finished with 93 points, the most in the Slam Dunk Contest during the half-time break of the all-star game.
