Stephon Marbury had 30 points and 5 assists as the Beijing Ducks outscored 37-23 in the fourth quarter to a 105-93 victory over the Liaoning Flying Leopards in Game 5 of the CBA Finals. Beijing led the series 3-2 and was on the verge of their third title in four years.

Game 6 and a possible Game 7 will be played in Benxi, Liaoning. Game 6 is Sunday.

“Game 7 is pending, and it is up to us.” Liaoning’s coach Guo Shiqiang said, “We have Game 6 to play.”

Li Gen, who impacted the game along with Marbury in the fourth quarter, had 24 points for the defending champions. Randolph Morris had 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Sun Yue added 14 points.

Liaoning led by a slice of margin through quarters, but they gave away control to the host in the first half of the last quarter by making reckless plays and bad shoot choices, which were accountable for the turnovers, while Marbury drove into the paint five times, each time he scored either from lay-up or free throw line in two and half minutes.

“We don’t think too much. We play one game at a time.” Beijing’s coach Min Lulei said, “We have Sunday’s game to prepare.”

Lester Hudson, who missed 10 of 12 attempts from 3-pointer line, had 31 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for Liaoning. Li Xiaoxu had 10 points and 15 rebounds, and Guo Ailun had 13 points.

Jiangsu was the only team that lost the title in the Finals when held a match point, which happened in 2005 when the Finals used a best-of-five series, two games less then the current.
